One of the charming things about this country is the humour, of course. I mean, which is other nation would endearingly call a place that serves food a greasy spoon?
I went to one called Britannia Café for the first time today. Complete with cheesy photos of London, plastic furniture and a Union Jack on the menus.
I only wanted a bit of an omelette, but ended up with a huge plate of omelette, chips, peas and a huge side salad of cucumber, tomatoes and red onions. Definitely worth it for a fiver!
Say what you want about English food, this definitely made me happy. Sure, I tend to gain weigh whenever I’m here so it’s certainly not the most healthy of cuisines, but it’s honest and down-to-earth on a rainy day.
