A few years ago, it suddenly hit me: I’d travelled to countries all over the world yet I’d barely seen anything of my own country. Ever since then, I’ve been trying to make up for that and have seized every opportunity to check out new places in Germany.
Thus, today I went to the beautiful city of Speyer for the first time.
We saw the stunning cathedral (where we heard a lovely choir concert), visited the Jewish museum including its original mikhva dating back to the 13th Century, the Rhine and a Boeing 747!
If you ever find yourself travelling through Germany, this gorgeous ancient city is definitely worth a visit. The medieval centre is full of little cafes in pretty, colourful houses and the city is surrounded by the Palatinate, a region whose wines you absolutely have to try while you’re there.
