Day 152 – a new favourite spot

As I may have mentioned before, Munich is not exactly renowned for its great service. Thus, I’m always happy to find places that make me as the customer feel welcome rather than a nuisance. Today, I went to such a place for the first time:

Plaisir, a small café in Munich’s district of Haidhausen is such a place. It serves good coffee, excellent home-made ice cream and a range of drinks and home-made sweets. The coffee comed not only with a yummy little cookie but also with a glass of water, which is quite normal in many countries but not in Germany. That’s why it’s always a huge bonus for me when a place does this around here. Despite all that, the prices were so reasonable that I double-checked he’d charged me for everything we’d had.

And what’s best about Plaisir is that it’s a social project helping people who’ve been out of a job for a long time. So any visit to the café actually benefits a brilliant project. What more could I want? I’ve definitely found a new favourite place there!

      1. In no particular order:

Trachtenvogl in Reichenbachstraße if you like places with a living room flair (always busy though)
Zoozie’z at Baldeplatz is a café and restaurant/bar with lots of space and nice food
Celebrità ( https://newthingchallenge.wordpress.com/2015/02/21/day-52-there-is-good-service-in-munich-after-all/) which is also a restaurant, serves great cake
Café Mozart is an absolute must (café in the day, restaurant and bar at night, with great food, also always busy)
        Mariandl is brilliant for breakfast
Woerner’s in Marienplatz is great for its amazing selection of cakes, but the service isn’t the greatest
Café Jasmin has got a lovely old fashioned interior
Stadtcafé is central and has lots of tables outside
